Leda Ciambelli Toni, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024 at the age of 83 after a short illness.
Leda was a devoted wife of 52 years to Alberto Toni, beloved mother to Claudia Smith and her husband Kenneth, Marco and his wife Lauren. She was the loving Nonna to Julia, Olivia, Victoria and Matteo. Cherished sister of Alberto Ciambelli and to the late Pietro and Oris Ciambelli. Beloved sister-in-law to Carla Bertoncini, Lilia Cancherini, Lelia Domini, Giuditta Toni, the late Arnaldo Pagnani, Marina Toni, the late Giuseppe Rebecchi, Anna Toni, the late Constante Fornari and to the late Giuseppe Toni. Adored aunt to many nieces and nephews. Wonderful friend to all.
Leda was born on September 30, 1941, to Pilade Ciambelli and Teresa Rielli in Colli di Capricchia – Careggine, a small town in Tuscany, Italy. She often reminisced fondly of her early childhood growing up on a rural countryside. Leda immigrated to the United States in September 1962 in search of more opportunities. Leda alongside Alberto built a wonderful family together in the Bronx and moved to Yonkers in 1994. Leda loved cooking, gardening and being surrounded by her family and friends.
Leda was a faithful Catholic who faced each day with unwavering strength, meeting even the hardest moments with grace and resilience. Leda had three essential constants in her life: faith, family and friends. Her deep devotion and commitment to her faith was reflected in the way she lived each day. Leda leaves behind a legacy of strength, wisdom, and kindness that will continue to inspire those who knew her.
The Toni family would like to express their gratitude to everyone who supported Leda throughout her journey. She will be dearly missed, as her spirit of love and kindness lives on in the hearts of those who loved her.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Leda’s memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
