Francis Gerard Craven passed away unexpectedly on November 26, 2024 at White Plains Hospital surrounded by his beloved family. Frank was born in Mount Vernon, NY and was a lifelong resident of Bronxville.
Son of Joseph Patrick Craven and Ann (neé Kelly) Craven, originally of Tullamore, Offaly and residing in Tuckahoe, NY. He was the youngest of five children and was predeceased by his sisters Nancy and Marion and brothers Patrick and Joseph. Beloved husband of Maryanne Craven, father to Francis Patrick (Maya Bodinger) and Mary Elizabeth. Grandfather to Francis Neri and Ronin William. Uncle to many nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Bronxville High School and the University of Baltimore, he was drafted into the United States Army in 1968 and served as an E4(SP4) with the 1st Battalion of the 59th Artillery until his honorable discharge in 1974 .
Frank was a restaurant owner for many years, opening Ye Old Pub with his brother Pat which eventually became Craven’s of Bronxville. He then went on to open the Village Tavern in Ardsley, NY and finally Craven’s of Valhalla in Valhalla, NY. He was also a real estate agent for over 30 years, working at Bronxville Ley in Bronxville, NY and then working at RE/MAX Distinguished Properties in Tuckahoe, NY.
Frank met his long time love Maryanne when they were just fifteen years old and went on to be married for over 46 years. They created a beautiful family together which was one full of love. To say that Frank was proud of the life they created would be an understatement, as his family was his most cherished accomplishment. Frank was a truly selfless man who always put others before himself and would do anything for anyone without hesitation.
Visitation will be held on December 2nd at McGrath Funeral Home located at 20 Cedar Street in Bronxville, NY from 3pm-7pm and Funeral services will be held on December 3rd at the St. Joseph’s Church located at 15 Cedar Street in Bronxville, NY at 10:45am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Frank’s memory may be directed to the Montefiore Structural Heart Program at White Plains Hospital located at 122 Maple Avenue, 7th floor, White Plains, NY 10601.
