Christine Rita Sposato, 101, of Bronxville, NY passed away on February 9 after a brief illness. She was born on July 17, 1922 in Mount Vernon, NY to Charles G. Sposato, Sr. and Jane Carideo Sposato. During her life she achieved success in her educational, professional and artistic pursuits. After completing her secondary education at A. B. Davis High School in Mount Vernon she enrolled at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College in Terre Haute, Indiana where she was consistently present on the school’s Honor Roll as well as serving as President of the Student Athletic Association and the Mathematics Club in her senior year. She graduated in 1944 with a major in Mathematics at a time when few women were earning degrees in that discipline. A lengthy career with AT&T saw Christine become one of the first women to rise through the data processing department to become a respected and valued executive of that firm. Upon retirement she was free to indulge her passion for painting and completed scores of water colors which she proudly displayed at art shows throughout Westchester County as a prominent member of the Pelham Artist Guild. Aunt Tina also graciously gave many of her works to her beloved nieces and nephews and even did paintings upon request commemorating special events in the lives of her grandnieces and grandnephews.
Christine was pre-deceased by her parents and by her brother, Vincent Sposato. She is survived by her brother, Charles G. Sposato, Jr. of Mount Vernon and by six nieces, five nephews, seventeen grand nieces, ten grandnephews and numerous great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. Aunt Tina will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on February 15 at 9:45 AM at St. Joseph’s Church in Bronxville where Christine was a longtime parishioner and communicant. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in New Rochelle, NY.
