 Edward P. Shalvey (Retired NYPD & Westchester Co. Police) entered eternal rest on October 17, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Ed was born November 22, 1942 in the Highbridge section of the Bronx. Beloved husband of 46 years, to the love of his life Mary, loving father of his pride and joy Mary Kate and Meaghan. Dear brother of Patricia Moore and the late Marion and Vincent. Ed proudly served in the NYPD for 32 honorable years, retiring with numerous medals and awards and the rank of Lieutenant and was also a member of the NYPD Honor Legion. Upon retiring, he was appointed as the Deputy Commissioner of the The Westchester County Police.  Ed also bravely served as a Captain in the 69th Infantry Division of the New York National Guard..  Ed was extremely proud of his Irish heritage. He served as the Chairman and President of the American Irish Association of Westchester and was named their Irishman of the Year. He was also awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for his dedication to the NYC St. Patrick’s Day Parade. He was an amazing husband, father, brother, mentor and “a real cops cop” and his legendary story telling will be missed by all. Calling Hours at the Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, Bronxville between the hours of 2 to 4 and 6 to 9pm Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial, Annunciation Church, Crestwood on Friday, October 21 at 11am.
