Sarubbi, Constance M. December 8, 1934 - August 30, 2018

Constance Bernadette McNamara Sarubbi, aged 83 of Mount Vernon, NY, passed away on Thursday, August 30th, 2018 in Bronxville, NY. Born as the second of 5 children to Margaret (nee Skorepa) and John J. McNamara in New York City on December 8, 1934, her unexpected early arrival caused her father, John to be the midwife, delivering his 4 lb. daughter.   Her first hours were spent in a makeshift dresser drawer surround by lamps to ensure heat and life. She thrived with great success as a loving human being. She earned two degrees from New York University while working her way thru college as a showroom model on Seventh Avenue.     She worked for NBC Television as an Assistant Producer for Daytime TV, then as a manager for NBC Commercials. Switching careers she worked as the Director for the Teamsters Local 295 Air Freight Health and Welfare Fund. Her father, John was an important and highly visible figure in the organized labor movement of the 1950’s and 1960’s. Instrumental in some significant labor policy statutes enacted for the betterment of the working man and woman. After a Grand Tour of Europe, in 1965 she married P. Anthony Sarubbi, whose family company was begun by his father, Pancrazio, in 1910.   The firm was highly regarded as a builder of schools, banks, and commercial structures. The company continued until Anthony’s retirement at age 91. They settled in Mount Vernon, New York where she raised her three children, John Anthony (Robin), Aileen McNamara (James) Maurno, and Elizabeth Finnegan, of whom she was extremely proud. Constance was very active in the children’s schools doing major fund raising and also for two decades carved out a successful career as a Real Estate Broker in Westchester. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and was a daily communicate at mass.   She was one of the original members of The Apostles of the Resurrection in Hartsdale, NY, a Lady of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher as well as the group of original appointees as Eucharistic Minister at Immaculate Conception Parish in Tuckahoe, NY. She actively cooked for HOPE Community Services for over 35 years and was a Jansen Hospice volunteer for the sick and dying.   Since 1973 she was highly regarded as a gifted and respected consulting astrologer with a select international clientele.   She counseled, guided and enlightened clients to better lives for four decades. Many sent their children and grandchildren to her for her guidance, wisdom and powerful insights. She taught paranormal subjects in the Adult Education Programs in Westchester for eight years. She was a popular guest speaker at various civic, social and cultural functions. She always posed the question to her many friends and clients – “which comes first – to know your purpose or your path?” And they may not be singular but morph into multi branches. Always stay open to the divine source and you will know what you were called to do. Constance and her husband, Anthony, loved to travel and set foot in over forty countries.   She also loved to entertain especially at holiday times. She leaves behind her four precious grandchildren, Elizabeth, Nicholas and Robert Maurno and John Sarubbi.   Also her close siblings, George of Katonah, NY and John James McNamara of Sarasota, Fl. (she was preceded in death by her younger brother Robert) her sister, Margaret McNamara Giordani of Newport Beach, CA and several close cousins, especially June Guyette of Nashville, TN and nieces and nephews on the East and West coasts. Can’t believe we lost our loving, caring & generous Connee. Heartfelt condolences to Tony & Family. We just reconnected the last couple of years (through our shared caring for Peg Hatch, my aunt) though I knew & remembered Connee from my childhood McNamara family visits (My Mom was Peg’s sister Dorothy McNamara Moran). I will miss her but feel we’ve always got some part of her spirit with us. Love, Carol & son Andrew
