Saracino, Sylvia November 25, 1922 - October 27, 2023

Sylvia Celli Saracino, 100, longtime resident of Westchester, died peacefully on Oct. 27, 2023. Born in the Bronx on Nov. 25, 1922 to Joseph and Linda Celli, she attended Roosevelt HS (Bronx) and at 19 graduated from Hunter College with a BA in 1943. She married Dr. S.F. Saracino, her high school sweetheart, in 1946. A widow for 37 years, Sylvia is survived by her children Linda, Raymond (MaryAnn) and Ellen, 3 grandsons Jon, Greg (Sarah) and Mark (Dawn), 6 great grandchildren, and her sister Doris Lang, 105, of FL.

Sylvia and her family lived in Fleetwood, Mt. Vernon, and was active in her children’s activities such as scouting. She was president of the Sts. Peter & Paul Ladies Guild, and until age 97 was an avid swimmer in the Little Peconic Bay in Southampton. Sylvia was a member of Pelham Country Club where she golfed and was a champion bowler. She loved opera, baseball, cooking, singing, pool and competitive Scrabble. Sylvia will be remembered for her quick wit, wide range of knowledge, and love of words in English, Italian and French.

We will miss her grace, creativity and love.

Calling Hours:  4 to 8 pm, Thursday, November 2, 2023. A  Celebration of life will be held at 7 pm

Mass: 11 am, Friday, November 3, 2023, Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel, Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant, NY,  Committal service to follow.

    Aunt Sylvia you will be missed we have many joyful memories taking my kids to Southampton house you showing Matthew how to make egg salad memories they always talk about! Until me meet again love you❤️

    Aunt Sylvia had a tremendous amount of kindness and love towards all people she encountered. Rare qualities these days….she will be remembered for ever through me, and all the others she touched in this world.
