O’Leary, Michael P., MD June 28, 1935 - September 27, 2023

Michael Paul O’Leary, MD FACOG, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2023 at his home in Bronxville NY surrounded by his immediate family.

Michael is survived by sons John (Eileen) and Owen and his grandchildren Michael and Caitlin. Michael is predeceased by his wife, Irene, to whom he was married for just shy of 60 years, and his son Brian, who passed away in 1996.

Born in Dublin, Ireland on June 28, 1935 to parents John and Frances O’Leary, Michael received his Medical Doctorate from University College of Dublin. Michael emigrated from Ireland to New York in 1962, where he completed an internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Bellevue Hospital, serving as Chief Resident during his final year. After completing his training and joining the NYU School of Medicine, Michael established a private OB/GYN practice in Manhattan, focusing on infertility.

Michael enjoyed life most with his family, especially the decades spent on Long Beach Island, NJ surrounded by Irene, their children and grandchildren, cherished friends, and of course, riotous visits from the Irish. Michael never hesitated to scare the bejesus out of his guests with a spin around Barnegat Bay in his “trusty” boat. He also looked forward to frequent visits back to Dublin to connect with family and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be held on October 7th, 2023 at 9:45am at Saint Joseph’s Church, Bronxville NY, followed by a celebration of Michael’s life at the family home.
