Murtagh, Mary B., died on September 26, 2019. Daughter of Michael and Mary Maguire, Mary was born on March 7, 1925 in Woodmere, New York. Mary attended Fordham University and then finished her studies at Columbia University where she was awarded a B.S. from the school of business (and was elected Campus Queen). In 1947, she married the love of her life John M. Murtagh, who later served as a Justice of the New York State Supreme Court. They lived with their family in the Inwood section of Manhattan until John passed in 1976. Since then, Mary has resided in Bronxville and Tuckahoe, NY and also enjoyed a home on Lake Winola in Pennsylvania. Mary worked as a teacher at Mother Butler Memorial Academy and later with Fordham University’s Industrial Economics Research Institute. We will all remember her as someone who loved to entertain friends, loved to dance and sing and found great joy in her family. She is survived by her four children, Joan Frankel (Michael), Thomas Murtagh (Fern), Maeve Byrnes (Tom) and John Murtagh (Margaret); twelve grandchildren, Elizabeth, Sarah and Jonathan Frankel, Lindsey and Shannon Murtagh, Heather Miller, Kate, Brendan, Kevin and Clare Byrnes, John and James Murtagh; and great grandchildren Teagan, Theo, Eleanor, Corrine, Maguire and Nadine.
