McKoy, James (Jim) – passed away on May 29th. Devoted husband of 37 years to the late Nancy (Kirk) McKoy. Jim is survived by his daughter and son-in law Caitlin and Michael Carbonello, his son Conor, his brother Terry, his sister Kathleen (Kathy), his brother-in-law Stephen Kirk, his sisters-in-law Maria Kirk, Mary Ann Kirk, and Maryellin Kirk, and his niece and nephews Lauren Kirk, David Kirk, Stephen J. Kirk, Justin McEvoy, and Keith McEvoy. Jim was “Pop-pop” to three grandchildren – Benjamin, Andrew, and Emma, whom he loved dearly.
Jim was a graduate of Central Catholic High School (Pittsburgh, PA), Fordham University and Iona College. After college, Jim enlisted in the United States Coast Guard where he was stationed in Massachusetts and later New York before being honorably discharged at the rating of Senior Boatswain. Following the Coast Guard, Jim continued to work in the maritime industry as a professor and third mate at SUNY Maritime College where he educated cadets for 30+ years and sailed on many Summer Sea Terms. Jim enjoyed laughing with family and friends, cracking jokes, teaching, and napping in his favorite recliner.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 7th from 5-9pm at Fred H McGrath and Sons in Bronxville. Relatives and friends are most respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph’s Church, Kraft Avenue, in Bronxville, at 9:45am on Friday, May 8th. Interment will take place at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Putnam Valley.
