          Gloria J. McGowan
               (March 11, 1932-July 13, 2023)
Gloria J. McGowan ( Née Cosentino) 91, was born in the Bronx, NY, on March 11, 1932, and passed away on July 13, 2023, in White Plains, NY.
Gloria was one of four girls born to Dominick and Sarah Cosentino, Italian immigrants. She attended Theodore Roosevelt High School, then continued her education at Hunter College. Gloria had a career in education that spanned several decades, from teaching the children of U.S. soldiers in Germany to Scarsdale Public Schools and the Archdiocese of New York. She was a dynamic presence in the classroom and loved her work.
Once retired, she remained social and active. Some of her happiest times in retirement were with her friends and family. She loved visiting The Berkshires, exploring new places, and meeting people while attending events such as foreign language clubs with her husband Richard. More than anything, she adored spending time with her cherished grandchildren Colin and Gianna. From school activities, sports, and holidays, they were the center of her world. She was their biggest fan and cheerleader.
Gloria will be remembered as a devoted and loving daughter, wife, mom, sister, grandma, aunt, and friend. Anyone who met her will remember her warmth and incredible kindness.
Gloria was predeceased by her parents, Sara and Dominick Cosentino, her sister Marie Berlingeri, and her husband Richard McGowan.
She is survived by her sisters Teresa Ferraro and Diane Gentile, daughter Sarah Malgioglio (Joe), her grandchildren Gianna Rose and Colin Joseph, and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
A wake will be held on Wednesday, July 19th, from 4-8, at Fred H. McGrath and Sons, Inc. Funeral Home in Bronxville, and a Mass will be held on Thursday, July 20th, at 10 AM, at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Valhalla. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla.

    Dear Sarah and family,
My deepest condolences to you and your family
She was a very special dynamic woman who was determined in so many ways. I knew her best in these last years with her illness. She remembered I taught Yoga and was interested in practicing with me. We spend some time together. I was so struck by her curious and wish to improve her functioning any way she could.
I will miss her, she was a wonderful neigbhor and presence in our building.
With deepest regards to you and your family.

A person that departs from this earth never truly leaves, for they are still alive in our hearts, and through our memories, they live on. My condolences.
