Muriel Aragona, of Bronxville, NY, passed away peacefully on July 10th, 2023, at White Plains Hospital surrounded by her loved ones.
At the age of 79, she leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, kindness and caring. Muriel was born on October 9, 1943 to Floyd T. MacLaughlin, the Voice of America and the host of The Bell Telephone Hour, and Ruth MacLaughlin, Former Assistant Bronx Borough President. She was raised in Manhattan attending Marymount School of New York and later Finch College.
Muriel had successful careers as the Executive Assistant to the senior partners at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, the Beauty Editor and Executive Assistant to Grace Mirabella at Vogue magazine, the Admissions Director at Marymount School of New York and, after moving to Westchester, a long-time Realtor, where she received awards for being a top producer.
Muriel was a devoted and beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She was not only stunningly beautiful on the outside but also on the inside. She was a classic lady with such grace, showing unconditional love and compassion to everyone she crossed paths with. These qualities made a seemingly simple woman extraordinary and like no other to those that knew her well.
Muriel is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Aragona; her two beloved children, son William Jarema and daughter Elizabeth Haines [David, Jr.]; and her two treasured grandchildren David C. Haines III (“Trey”) and Reese Haines. She is predeceased by her many “furry” children: Amy, Haiku, Brave, Spooky, Princess, Amber and Lucy. Calling hours at the Fred H. McGrath & Son, Funeral Home, Bronxville, are between the hours of 4 to 7pm Tuesday, July 18th, 2023. A Christian Service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, July 19th, 2023 at The Reformed Church of Bronxville. Interment immediately to follow at the Bronxville Cemetery. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, donations, (Links found below), can be made in her name to the Reformed Church of Bronxville or Saint Joseph’s Church of Bronxville.

We met when our Marymount class was still very small… I think we were about 13? Many wonderful memories over the years! So grateful for our ongoing friendship… which though not continuous, was very much valued! Hugs and prayers! She will always be in my heart.
