Mary Louise McCarthy, 83, of Yonkers, NY passed away peacefully on January 19, 2016. Mary Louise was born in the Bronx, NY on October 3, 1932 to the late Louise and Joseph Minetti, and was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, William Jr, in 2013. Mary Louise is survived, by her husband’s sister Rosemary McCarthy of NYC, her sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Joseph Biscoglio of Bronxville, NY, her two daughters, Theresa of Tarrytown, NY, and Louise Flynn (Timothy) of New Rochelle, NY, her three sons, William III (Theresa) of Eastchester, NY, Joseph (Heather) of New London, NH and John (Loren) of New Rochelle, NY. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren, Luke (Kate), Timmy, Anna, Jenna, Lily, Sarah, Tommy, Elizabeth Rodesky and Kate Rodesky. Mary Louise is survived by one great granddaughter, Bridget McCarthy, of Manhasset, New York. She is also survived by two nieces Maria, Regina (Jim), a nephew Joseph, two great nieces, Olivia, Julia, and a great nephew, Matthew. Mary Louise worked in the Main Office of the Ursuline School in New Rochelle for over 40 years before her retirement in 2013. She attended the Academy of Mount St. Ursula in the Bronx and the College of New Rochelle. Before raising her five children she was a French Interpreter at the UN and a Kindergarten teacher at Saints Peter and Paul in Mt. Vernon. Her greatest joy was her family in particular her grandchildren and her great granddaughter whom she held in her heart. Amongst her other great joys was the Jersey Shore where she spent her summers for over 50 years, College Basketball, and the Christmas season. Family and friends are invited to visit at Fred H. McGrath’s Funeral Home on Thursday January 21, 2016 from 2-4 PM and 6 -9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday January 22, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Church in Bronxville, NY. At 9:45 AM. Interment immediately following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Presidents’ of the Ursuline School in New Rochelle or the Iona Prep School in New Rochelle to be used to help continue their mission of service to God and student’s in need.
