Lanier, Jim L “James” May 15, 1949 - June 28, 2021

With overwhelming sadness, we are announcing the passage of our patriarch Rev. James “Jim” L. Lanier. Jim was the husband to the Rev. Jennifer Brown-Lanier and father to Cedric, Sean, Asia, and Shari. Most importantly, he was a child of our Most High God. He was the Founder and Senior Pastor of New Jerusalem Church where he led his flock. He was a mentor, friend, and brother to all that he encountered and loved by all who knew him. His presence and guidance graced our lives, so he will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank you for all the love and support in this great time of sorrow.

Calling Hours: 4 to 7 pm, Friday, July 2, 2021 with a Remembrance Service at 6 pm.

Funeral Service: 10 am, Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Christ Church Bronxville

I’ve been thinking about James a lot lately and calling his old number. Finally decided to look him up and I saw this obituary. My condolences to the family, James talked about all of you every time we spoke. He was such a joyous light. Kind, funny, and loving. I remember our days working together at Lehman and just talking to him afterwards as one of the highlights of my life. He surely left his mark. God bless you all. Sending my love and prayers to your family daily.
