Anastasia (Kiernan) Hawkins (June 12, 1939 -January 8, 2024)
Anastasia Kiernan was born on June 12, 1939 to Mary and Peter Kiernan in Yonkers, New York. She is survived by her brother Tom Kiernan.
She married Denis Hawkins on January 9, 1960. They had a lifelong love affair after meeting in Latin class at Sacred Heart High School and went on to spend 64 years of marriage going on dates to their favorite Italian restaurants. They were longtime residents of Yonkers and Hampton Bays, NY.
Loving mother of Maryann (Bob) Dennen, Patricia (Tom) Burke, and Denis Hawkins.
Loving and proud grandmother to Christopher (Lucy) Dennen, Cara (Thomas) Lilly and Jack (Zoe Siegel) Dennen and Thomas (Allison), Katie and Annie Burke.
Doting great-grandmother of Jackson and Louis Dennen, Quinn Lilly, and Oliver Burke.
In the late 1960s with three young children, she went back to school to get both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education and psychology. She was a parochial schoolteacher for over 20 years, most of those years at Sacred Heart Elementary School.
She got the most joy spending time with her family and many, many dear friends at “happy hours” in Westchester, Hampton Bays, and Florida. She was an outgoing connector of those in her life, regularly hosting and gathering with those she loved the most.
Calling hours at the Fred H. McGrath and Son, Funeral Home, Bronxville between the hours of 4 and 8 pm on Thursday January 11.
Mass of Christian Burial, Friday January 12, at 10 am at the Monastery Church of the Sacred Heart in Yonkers.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Smile Together a nonprofit organization aimed to advance cleft and craniofacial research, education, and patient care.

January 9, 2024 at 1:45 pmAnnie was my childhood friend and classmate at OLR school. We lived only a few blocks apart and spent many happy times together. I had high hopes of a reunion on for our 85th birthday, but that was not to happen. My deepest sympathy to her wonderful family, whom I have gotten to know through her marvelous Facebook posts. God Bless!
