Gibson, Margaret “Peggy” May 26, 1928 - January 19, 2024

Margaret “Peggy” M. Gibson of Bronxville passed away on January 19, 2024. Beloved wife of the late John Gibson, loving mother of John (Lisa), Colleen (Kenny) O’Loughlin and Kevin (Lorraine), devoted grandmother of Rebecca Gibson (Bijan) Abar, James Gibson, Caitlin (George) Wright, Kenny O’Loughlin, Kiera (Adam) Hannon, Thomas (Kate) Gibson, Lisa Gibson, Kevin (Ashley) Gibson and great grandmother to Declan, Sloane, Elliana, Kinsley, Klyde, Finn, Jameson Jean, Robert and Andi. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Madge Gaffney of Ireland, her niece Anne Kelly of NYC and many other nieces and nephews in Ireland and England. She is predeceased by her 7 siblings, Kay, Lil, Jim, Mick, Paul, Mary and Patrick

Peggy emigrated from Co. Roscommon, Ireland and landed her first job in the US at the Horn & Harnetts Restaurant. She soon met the love of her life, John Gibson, and they were married in 1954. She and john shared the love of ballroom and Irish dancing and they did so together frequently. Peggy had a long career with the NYC Board Of Education. After John died in 1993 Peggy moved to Bronxville where she lived until just recently. She became an active member of the St. Joseph’s Church Parish was a member of the Legion of Mary and was a Eucharistic Minister, volunteering to give out communion at hospitals and home-bound people. She was also a volunteer for the Guild for the Blind and the Meals on Wheels Program. After recently moving to the Artis Senior Living Facility she discovered her hidden talent of playing Corn Hole, basketball throwing and miniature golf, playing and winning up until a few weeks ago.

Once Peggy became a grandparent she never said no to babysitting any of them and for some it was almost a full time job. She taught all of her grand children and great grandchildren to play Old Maid but did not allow them to win! She was always welcomed on the family summer vacations, especially at the Jersey Shore.

Her kindness and generosity towards others will be her legacy. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
