Jimmy Doherty passed away on April 26, 2026. Born in the Bronx to the late James and Ann Doherty. Brother of Ann Harkin and John Doherty and the late Donald, Edmund and Bernadette. Uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Jimmy was a NYC Bus Driver with MABSTOA for many years. After retiring he had a long career in the funeral industry working as a pall bearer for funeral homes throughout the Bronx and Westchester, continuing to work well into his 80’s. Jimmy’s passion was all New York sports teams, professional and college and could recall details from games all the way back to the 50’s. He would never pass up the opportunity to talk and argue about them, and may have even placed a little wager on a game or two.
Calling Hours at the Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, Bronxville between the hours of 3 to 7pm Thursday, April 30. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Church, Yonkers on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 10:30am.

Recently you said to me, “why is the Big guy keeping me here. I’m ready.” I didn’t have an answer for that. But now, after meeting so many people in your circle I understand how many families you have outside of your sister Ann and her children, The McGraths, Eleanor, Niko and the Columbus Diner Crew.
I believe it was God’s intent we all met in your last years for things we can’t explain.
Jimmy, I enjoyed our time together l. You taught me how I want to live until the end. Love you buddy
