William “Bill” Sanford Bouton, 72, passed away on April 28, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer, during which he pursued various treatments to extend his time with family.

Bill was born on August 8, 1953, at Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, New York. He spent part of his early childhood in Baltimore before returning to Bronxville. He attended Bronxville High School, where he excelled at and loved playing football. He spoke with deep affection about his upbringing alongside his wonderful parents and siblings.

He later married the lovely Carol Porter, and together they raised a family in Mount Vernon, New York, where he resided for the remainder of his life. Bill built a life centered on family, hard work, and his many interests.

He was a proud member of the sheet metal workers union. He had a deep appreciation for history and reading, devouring history books, especially around World War II. He also enjoyed relaxing at home watching the Yankees, the Giants and his beloved women’s UConn basketball team. He had a fondness for golden retrievers including Duffy and Jenny and more quietly, for the cats in the home.

He was predeceased by his wife, Carol Porter; his brother, Peter Bouton; and his parents, Elizabeth Gatchell Bouton and Clyde Sanford Bouton.

He is survived by his stepdaughter, Kerry Mangeri (Dave Mangeri); his stepson, Roger Connolly (Lindsay Connolly); and his daughter, Jaclyn Bouton (Zach Halper); his grandchildren, Ryan Felipe, Jack Felipe, Porter Connolly, and Arden Halper; his sisters, Katherine Bouton (Daniel Menaker) and Jean Bobo (Jerry Bobo); along with many dear nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews.

A memorial gathering to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, at Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, located at 20 Cedar Street, Bronxville, New York, 10708.
