Jennie Bosco, on June 18, 2019. Jennie was born on January 1, 1922 in Manhattan, the youngest of seven children of Italian immigrants. Beloved Wife of the Late Joseph Bosco, who died on December 16, 2006. Dear mother of Nancy Zernel (John) and Linda Loschiavo (Joseph). Also surviving are several several nieces and nephews. After the death of her mother when she was five, she was raised by an aunt in the Bronx. Jennie attended the Bronx Vocational High School, and met her future husband, Joseph Bosco, when both were working at a shoe factory in New York City. At the time of their marriage in 1943, Jennie was employed making sailor hats for the U.S. government and Joe was repairing warships at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. They lived in Brooklyn, where their first child, Nancy was born, and later moved to Long Island where their second daughter, Linda was born. Jennie worked for the Abraham & Straus department store in Hempstead, N.Y. as a department supervisor, and later moved to the Firemen’s Fund Insurance Company in Garden City, N.Y., where she was the supervisor of the Rating Department. She was active in church and community organizations, both at St. Anthony’s parish in Oceanside, N.Y. and at St. Joseph’s Church, when she and Joe moved to Bronxville in 1998. A lifelong learner and an avid reader, Jennie loved Broadway musicals, traveling the world, politics, baking, gardening, and most of all, getting together with the family. Calling hours at the Fred H. McGrath & Son, Funeral Home, Bronxville, 2 to4 and 6 to 8 pm Friday. Mass of Christian Burial St. Joseph’s Church, Bronxville, on Saturday, June 22 at 9:45 am.
