Felice Talamo October 24, 1939 - September 21, 2023

Felice Talamo was born in Sciara, Sicily (Italy) on October 24th, 1939, to Filippo Talamo and Giuseppina Tardibuono. He passed away peacefully at home on September 21,st 2023. Felice leaves a tremendous hole in the hearts of countless friends and family, namely his devoted wife of 56 years, Teresa (Baratta), his three children Philip (Michele), Josephine, and Vincent (Robyn), his adoring grandchildren Melissa, Nicole, Nina, Dante, Leonardo and Lucia, as well as his brother Gino, and sisters Margherita, Enza and Rosa.

Felice’s emphasis and focus on family was the pillar of his being and the driving force behind his unmatched work ethic. He emigrated to the United States in 1962 at the age of 22, leaving behind his family farm, his parents and three siblings to join his sister, Margherita, in The Bronx. After 5 years of pouring concrete foundations for some of the largest and most well-known developments in New York City for Civetta Construction, he returned to Sicily, where he met the love of his life, Teresa Baratta. They returned to the United States in 1967 and settled in the Throgs Neck section of the Bronx, where for the next 17 years, they raised their three children. In 1984, the family moved to Yonkers, NY, where Felice lived until his last breath. Throughout his life, Felice worked multiple jobs, starting a Landscaping business, and continuing to pour concrete, all while having a singular focus: to provide a better life for his family. A prolific storyteller and a man who could hold court for hours on end, Felice entertained his numerous friends, cousins, nieces, nephews, paesani, neighbors and in laws with his boundless humor, numerous anecdotes, gesticulations, and often, a made-up word or two that could become part of the lexicon of the broader population. He loved the beach, watching soccer and most of all, large family meals where he could express his love and adoration for his grandchildren. Felice was a true Living Legend.  He will be missed by all of those he touched over the years.

Deepest condolences to Mrs. Talamo, Phil, Jo, and Vin. Forgive me if this message delivers more a remembrance than a condolence. Though primarily a friend of Vin’s – yet having spent a good deal of cherished time with the Talamo family – I want to thank each of you for spreading the love your patriarch showed and taught you. I remember distinctly the first time I met Mr. Talamo at his home on Mohawk road. I remember distinctly the vivacious hug he gave me – a veritable stranger at that moment. It made me feel immediately at ease and welcome. What has lasted with me from that moment – and I nearly always have recalled this moment whenever I hear about “Vin’s dad” – was the insight Mr. Talamo gave me of the positive force of love and the importance of showing it. God bless you, Mr. Talamo. May you rest in peace. And peace be with you, Mrs. Talamo, Phil, Jo, and Vin.
