Madeleine M. Wingertzahn, a lifelong resident of Bronxville, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2022 with her family around her. Devoted mother of Tom (Tammy), Bill (Bernadette) Mike (Anne), Marianne, and Jennifer (Matt). Loving grandmother of Katie, Emily, Kevin, Jack, Maggie, Caitlin, Brian, Sally, Claire, and Maddy. Caring aunt of Robert Smith. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Walter; her parents, Alois and Madaline Melly; and her sister and brother-in-law, Suzanne and Jim Smith. She will be forever remembered for her great love and support for her family, her keen sense of humor, and her incomparable chocolate-chip brownies. She was an active, long-time parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Bronxville. Calling hours at the Fred H. McGrath & Son, Funeral Home, Bronxville, between the hours of 4 to 7pm on Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial, St. Joseph’s Church, Bronxville, on Thursday, April 28 at 9:45am, interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Madeleine’s name to the Visiting Nurse Services in Westchester, Inc.

    To Bill and Family,
    I am very sad for your loss, and hope that you each can console the other in your time of grief. I didn’t know Madeleine, but I see and admire the kindness and integrity in Bill that must have been instilled in him by a loving and kind mother.
