George Henry Weiler III
George Henry Weiler of Bronxville, NY, born in Philadelphia to Jeanne and George H. Weiler, Jr., died suddenly and without warning from a massive heart attack while playing tennis at The Bronxville Field Club. Mr. Weiler grew up in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania and Ridgewood, New Jersey, where he graduated from Ridgewood High School. He earned a B.A. from Yale University, a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, and completed a Rockefeller fellowship at Harvard University. Mr. Weiler started his career as a civil rights lawyer in Washington. He won every case. He then started his financial services career in 1984 at Dillon Read in Corporate & Executive Services where he headed the group. He continued in this role at SBC Warburg Dillon Read and later UBS Warburg through a series of mergers. In 2000, George joined UBS Wealth Management US as Senior Vice President. He successfully led The Weiler Financial Services Group there. George Weiler was a man for all seasons with diverse interests and an engaging intellect. He was most happy when he was connecting with people and every new connection resulted in a friendship. He lived the best part of a Christian life – reaching out to others, always seeking better understanding of life and never missing a moment – singing with the Yale Glee Club around the world tour, fighting to save a church with the Committee to Save St. Barts, Inc., running on Nauset Beach in Orleans, Cape Cod, campaigning for Romney and every other candidate who could make the world a better place. He adored his family and they adored him. In addition to his beloved wife Mary Ann, Mr. Weiler is survived by his four children Katherine Weiler Crane, Blair Weiler, Winston Weiler, Christina Weiler and one grandchild Philippe Crane III, his siblings, Wendy Weiler Chappell of Franklin Lakes, NJ, Christopher Weiler of Wyckoff, NJ, Patricia Weiler Thiess of Pittsburgh, PA and Pamela Weiler Colling of Midland Park, NJ. He was preceded in death by his brother, Terry William Weiler. George will be remembered for his loyalty to family and friends and his love and appreciation of life. He was a truly wonderful and admirable human being. He will be missed by many.Services will be held On Monday June 3, at 11am at the Reformed Church of Bronxville, 180 Pondfield Rd, Bronxville NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Reformed Church of Bronxville or the American Heart Association.
