Swinyard, Edward William, Jr. February 1, 1934 - October 25, 2026

William Swinyard, born on February 1, 1934, lived a life filled with love, kindness, generosity, and a genuine appreciation for family, friends, and the simple pleasures that make life special.

Bill grew up in Garden City, New York, where his love of sports began. He went on to attend Nichols College, where he played both basketball and lacrosse. A proud Army veteran, Bill served his country for two years before beginning the next chapter of his life.

On September 22, 1963, Bill married the love of his life, Agnes. With their marriage, he became an instant dad to Michael and Vincent, and before long, Susan joined the family. Bill embraced his role as a husband and father wholeheartedly. He was a loving, devoted family man who took great joy in spending time with his children, especially when he could coach the boys and share his love of sports with them.

Bill and Agnes built a wonderful life together. They enjoyed playing tennis, taking walks throughout Franklin Square, and simply being in each other’s company. Their life together was filled with the everyday moments that, over time, become the most treasured memories.

Professionally, Bill enjoyed a successful 30-year career at Republic National Bank, where he built lasting relationships and earned the respect of those around him.

Of course, Bill’s competitive spirit never faded. He was an avid fan of the New York Mets, Giants, and Knicks, and there was always room in his heart for his favorite teams. Whether cheering on a big game, coaching the boys, enjoying a walk with Agnes, or spending time with family, Bill found happiness in the things he loved.

Those who knew Bill will remember him as a kind and generous man who was always willing to lend a hand. He was admired by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, not because he sought recognition, but because of the way he treated people. His warmth, quiet strength, and genuine goodness left a lasting impression on family, friends, and everyone whose life he touched.

Bill’s greatest legacy is the love he gave and the memories he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the family he cherished, the friendships he nurtured, and the many lives he made better simply by being part of them.

Bill is survived by his son Vincent; his grandsons Nicolas, Will, and Max; his daughter Susan and son-in-law Jeff; and all those who will forever hold him close in their hearts.

He will be remembered with love, a smile, and gratitude for a life well lived.
