Ruth E. Sweeney (nee Wyatt of Yonkers on April 20, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Charles J. Sweeney. Loving mother of Robert J. Sweeney (Margaret Graf), David J. Sweeney (Nereida Acevedo Sweeney), Thomas J. Sweeney, Joseph M. Sweeney, Michael J. Sweeney (Doohwa Sweeney). Loving grandmother of Jaclyn, David, Catherine, and Lauren. Ruth was a long-time elementary school teacher with the Yonkers Public Schools, being awarded “Teacher of the Year” in 1980. She earned her bachelors degree at St. Joseph’s College in Maryland and her Masters Degree at New York University. She was an active parishioner at St. Bartholomew Church, as well as being active in the Opus Dei. Calling hours at the Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home.
