Sussingham, George J. November 11, 1931 - January 13, 2019

George J. Sussingham, 87, died peacefully at home on January 13, 2019. George was born in the Bronx, NY on November 11th, 1931, to Madeline and Frank Sussingham. He was raised by his grandparents, George and Mary Schroff. Growing up during the Great Depression was not easy, however George never lost his positive spirit and close bond with his family.  During the Korean War (1951-55) he served in the U.S Navy on the Destroyer U.S.S Cone. George was married to Kathleen Cohane for 48 years.  He worked as a chemical engineer for Duracell Batteries for 25 years and then Varta Batteries for 15 years. George is survived by his loving family, his son Frank (Annmarie), his two grandsons: John and Brian, his brother Jerry and sisters Madeline (Hall), and Ruth (Hatley), in-laws Gerry and Sally Cohane, Marion (Duffy) Cohane and Mary Cohane and numerous loving nieces and nephews-Sussingham and Cohane. He was predeceased by his wife Kathleen, sister Frances (Robinson), nephew John R. Cohane and in-laws John & Vera Cohane, Frank Cohane, Marion & Dick Peterson, Laura & Anthony Jones. Calling Hours at the Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, Bronxville between the hours of 4 to 8pm Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial, Annunciation Church, 470 Westchester Avenue, Crestwood on Friday January 18 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to WoundedWarriorProject.org
