CATHERINE (KITTY) SABOL, formerly of Yonkers and Bronxville, NY, died on September 16, 2019 in her home at Sunrise of Lower Makefield in Yardley, PA. She was the widow of Thomas Sabol, who died in 2003. Born in Erie, PA in 1937, Kitty was the daughter of Thomas F. and Marion (Bode) Perkinson and the sister of Mary Perkinson Racette (who predeceased her in October 2017) and Jane Perkinson of Newtown, PA. She attended schools in Erie and in Schenectady, NY; graduated from the College of New Rochelle (New Rochelle, NY); and obtained her Master’s degree in Education from the State University of New York at Oneonta.
A born teacher, Kitty as a little girl often rounded up small children in her neighborhood and showed them how to read and write. As an adult, she taught for over 30 years in New York State public elementary schools, including the Burnt Hills/Boston Lake school district and the Siwanoy, Colonial and Prospect Hill schools in Pelham.
Kitty was also an avid traveler and enjoyed visiting Mexico, Spain, the Scandinavian countries and many parts of the United States together with friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering at Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, 20 Cedar St., Bronxville, NY on Friday, September 27 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m., followed by a 10:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at the St. Joseph Church, 15 Cedar St. (directly opposite the funeral home).
