Robert A. Bazzini

November 27, 1941 – September 15, 2026
Robert A. Bazzini, a longtime resident of Bronxville, New York, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2026, at the age of 84.
Raised in the Bronx and educated at New York University, Robert was a proud Italian American who lived a life centered on family, faith, sports, and service to others. A lifelong educator as a physical education teacher, coach, and athlete, he had a particular passion for tennis, serving as a tennis professional at various clubs throughout his career, as well as an award winning swim coach. He believed in hard work, persistence, integrity, and, perhaps most importantly, showing up. Whether for his students and athletes or for the people he loved, Robert was someone you could count on to be there.
Robert and his beloved wife, Kathleen, raised their family in Bronxville, where they made their home together for 60 years. A devoted husband and proud father, his love for his sons, Todd and Tony, was at the heart of his life. That love only grew as his family did. He adored his grandchildren, embraced his daughters-in-law as his own, and was always looking out for the people he loved, making sure everyone was taken care of. His family was at the center of his life. His faith was equally important to him, as a devout and faithful parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church, where he attended Mass daily.
Those who knew Robert knew there was truly no one else quite like him. Handsome, charming, and exceptionally charismatic, he had a presence that filled a room. He was a wonderful dancer, the life of the party, and a gifted storyteller, although many of his stories began with his promise to “make a long story short.” His stories, expressions, warmth, and unmistakable sense of humor touched so many, leaving behind memories and laughter that will be shared and retold for generations to come.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen; his son Todd A. Bazzini and his wife Casey, their children, Olivia and Nicholas; his son Tony R. Bazzini and his wife Diana, their children, Lia and Angela.
Robert was truly one of a kind. He will be remembered for the lessons he taught, the stories he told, the laughter he brought, and, above all, the love and devotion he gave so freely to his family. He was cherished by all who knew him and will be deeply missed.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Fred H. McGrath & Son, Inc., 20 Cedar Street, Bronxville, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 21, 2026, at 9:45 AM at St. Joseph’s Church in Bronxville. I remember the first day that I walked into the pool at James Monroe High School in the Bronx and saw Bob. His sparking personality and good looks made this brand new educator feel so welcomed. We spent many years as friends and colleagues at Monroe and I was always grateful for his kindness, advice, and willingness to share the pool with my Girls’ Team! My sincere condolences to his family on the loss of this great human!
