Mary Anne Rittenhouse, of Bronxville passed away on August 5, 2020. Beloved partner of Michael Baker, loving mother of Mariel (Peter) Goodson, Timmy Rittenhouse and Christopher Rittenhouse, devoted Nana to Teddy, Ollie and Henry Goodson. After graduating from Sarah Lawrence College, Mary Anne served as the Orthopedic Coordinator at Lawrence Hospital for 20 years, where she was beloved by her patients and co-workers.
A woman of many talents, Mary Anne was particularly proud of her ability to tackle the Sunday Times crossword puzzle in ink, in one sitting. When she wasn’t sharpening her vocabulary skills – or her quick wit – she could usually be found horseback riding, Soul-Cycling or chasing her “Mansters” around the Hilltop.
Memorial Calling hours will be held at the Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, Bronxville between the hours of 2 – 4pm and 6 – 8pm on Friday August 14th. A Memorial Service will be held at The Reformed Church of Bronxville on Saturday August 15th at 11am.

August 9, 2020 at 12:37 pmMary Anne was a wonderful neighbor – a caring friend to my mother and sister who live next door.
Compassionate, thoughtful and patient, there was much well-earned knowledge and quiet wisdom
behind the ready smile. Looking at this picture, it is difficult to believe that we won’t see her again!
Suddenly, our world seems a bit smaller.

August 11, 2020 at 1:10 pmWhen I remember the pain of her loss I will try to remember the powerhouse she was. I will try to remember how smart she was, how caring, and most of all her sense of humor. I will miss walking in to the lobby of Palmer Hall calling out loudly “good morning Nurse Rittenhouse!” just so I could disrupt her train of thought, and she’d call back “good morning brat!”. Quick wit is an understatement to describe Maryann. She had a tremendous youthful sense of humor that I will sorely miss but glad I had the opportunity to know.

August 12, 2020 at 1:01 pmFor the brief moments we sat and talked over her choice of eyeglasses, I felt a kinship of soul. Free emotions and intellect that made my day enriched. I will miss her. May her memory be a blessing to her family and all her friends as well!

August 12, 2020 at 9:24 pmMay MaryAnne’s memory be a blessing to all who loved her. Her life certainly was a blessing to so many, even those of us who knew her for only a short time. She and I had offices in the same building at Lawrence and every day I saw her became brighter. I know this was true for so many others as well.

August 13, 2020 at 4:08 pmNot only was Mary Anne the most efficient nurse I have had the opportunity to be nursed by, she was a warm, funny, kind, smart person who became my friend shortly after my first pre-op meeting with her in 2015. It turned out we had much more in common than we could ever have known and I feel blessed to have known her. I will miss terribly her brilliant smile, wonderful advice, and sharp wit. My condolences to Michael and all her beautiful family.

February 18, 2024 at 6:48 amI’ve worked for Mary Anne in Bronxville in the middle 90″s.
She was very caring and treat me like family. She was a great cook! The Martha Stewart’s of Bronxville. Once she baked for me a pecan pie free of charge for Sunday’s potluck at my church. While the pie was cooling Sneaky (her cat) took a chuck out of God’s pie! Thanks Mary Anne. That beautiful smile will be missed.
Condolences to Timmy, Christopher and Mariel.
