Raymond L. Porfilio, 88, died peacefully at home in Bronxville, NY on December 2, 2019. He moved to Bronxville three years ago from Bayside, Queens, where he was born and lived most of his life. All those who knew him felt his generosity and selflessness, and he found a way to make and keep friends wherever he went.
A retired Lt. Colonel from the US Air Force, he continued his commitment to public service as Regional Director for the US Public Health Service. Upon retirement, he pursued his passions for woodworking, skiing, cycling, golf, and gardening—in between time spent with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Ann; his children, Raymond Jr. and his wife Rickie Harvey of Boston; Andrea and her husband Ed Dorian of Riverside, CT.; and Claudia and her husband Steve Malley of Bronxville, NY; and five grandchildren, Parker and Jaclyn Porfilio, Nick and Kenny Dorian, and Zip Malley, all of whom brought him great pride and joy.
Family and friends will be gathering for a memorial and celebration of his life on Saturday December 7, 2-5PM at the Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, 20 Cedar Street, Bronxville, NY.
In keeping with Ray’s generous spirit, the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice.
