We will miss her smile and sense of humor. She lived a good long life on this earth and God has her in his hands now.

As a young lad growing up, our aunt Winnie always sent the surprise box to Ireland, to her relations, at Christmas, what a lady. None of us would know New York, only for Winnie. Knowing Winnie was knowing a lady, she was very kind and very welcoming on all my trips to Bronxville. A lady for 105 years, may Winnie rest in eternal peace. April 9, 2023 at 9:53 amOur Condolences to Michael and John for the loss of their wonderful Mom and my dear friend of almost 41 years. She was a wonderful person with a heart of gold to go around for everyone she knew and did not know, very determined in her ways and rightfully so as she lived such a graceful life and milestone of 105 with quality right up to the end. She was always teaching others, always willing to reach out to help in so many ways or another.
She will be dearly missed along with our frequent phones calls as she and I would try to solve or at least understand the world problems and in the past year she said I really don’t understand the world anymore.
During our many phone calls she always said Mary I am living to long and in the last year I said your doing a great job at shooting to make it 106.
She knew so many people and was loved dearly by all.
Winnie my friend you will be missed, your were a great friend and my US Mom when I came here so many years ago. I am so grateful to have run into back in Nov of 1982.
Winnie may you REST in Peace.

April 10, 2023 at 11:56 amMay I add my own condolences to Michael and John and the rest of the family. I became friends with Winnie several years ago in the West Side Community Garden – her neighboring oasis. She loved the garden except when there were mosquitos around! Winnie showed me how to bake Irish Soda Bread, but when I tasted her own, I realized I still had aways to go to perfection. From time to time we’d meet at her apartment with another garden member and throw together some ham and cheese sandwiches for lunch, make a pot of Irish tea and have a good old chat. Having known Winnie really enriched my own life. Resquiescat in pace.

April 10, 2023 at 1:08 pmMy condolences to Michael and John and the rest of the family. I also became friends with Winnie in the West Side Community Garden. Whenever I think of Winnie I smile. I just loved spending time with her, especially after we had our ham and cheese sandwiches. Time seemed to pass on endlessly with all our conversations, including the state of the world. She also loved my chicken soup whichI I was going to bring her on the day she went to Calvary. Now it is in my freezer and the sign on it says “Winnie’s soup”. Love you Winnie. Rest In Peace.

I met her many years ago while she was visiting her relatives in Ireland (The O’Dowds) in Tubercurry. After that meeting we become firm friends, we had endless phone calls over the years after that. She had an amazing personality, wit and energy, she had such a laugh and even when John and I spoke to her 2weeks ago, she still had that amazing laugh. I always looked forward to her lovely cards, letters, I will miss them and our phone calls. We shared the same values, wit and views on the changing world around us. Rest in peace sweet Angel. Forever in my thoughts and prayers. xx
