Robert W. Neall Jr., a former advertising executive for TV Guide Magazine died peacefully at his home in Brookfield, CT on Sunday, January 10, 2016. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert W. Neall Sr and Marian Mishler Neall of Philadelphia, PA.and his sister, Marian, “Babs” Brown of Berwyn, PA.Bob is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kim Neall, nee Boone, his children, Scott Robert Neall, of Florida, his two adoring step-children, Rebecca Lai of Fairfield, Ct and Michael Lai , Valerie Lai and his beloved grandson, Robert Oscar Lai, of Laverne, California, his nieces, Catherine Ebling, Lisa Kohler and Sandra Brown. After graduating from Colgate University, he joined the US Army , completed OCS and was awarded the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He served in Alaska during the Korean War. Upon separating from the army, Bob went to work for BBDO, the advertising agency in New York. He later joined TV Guide shortly after it was founded by Walter Annenberg where he held several positions, ultimately “selling space” for the magazine and helping it to its’ eventual success. By 1988 TV Guide had the largest circulation and highest advertising revenues of any weekly magazine in the United States. Bob retired from TV Guide in 1993 after 30 years. Bob was an excellent golfer and a long time member of Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, NY. He was also a past president of the Metropolitan Advertising Golf Association. Bob loved to travel with his wife and her family and was welcomed into their lives as a brother. Whether traveling around this country or to Europe, he was enthusiastic and always fun to be around., At home, he gardened with this wife and enjoyed the company of the many dogs and cats rescued over the years. He was an amateur carpenter and specialized in building birdhouses and customized doghouses built to the personality and size of the dog. Bob was loved and will be missed by all who knew him, relatives and many life-long friends. A special thanks to Regional Hospice of CT, At Home Healthcare and especially to Luciano Viera, who provided care to Bob for the last eighteen months, treating him like a man and not a patient. We will be forever grateful for his care and the gentle kindness shown to him. Bob’s beauty, his kindness, his intellect will always be remembered. Calling Hours at the Fred H.
