Anne Elaine Monfrini, November 4, 1917-May 1, 2020

Anne Elaine Monfrini, long time resident of Bronxville, NY passed away May 1, 2020 at age 102 after a brief period of declining health.

Born in Chicago to Jerry and Lucy (Pugliese) Zambrella, Anne resided with family in the Bronx and Harrison, NY where she later met her beloved Bill (C.William Monfrini). Shortly after WWII she, Bill and their young son Robert moved to an apartment in Bronxville where Anne lived almost to her passing.

A longtime member of St. Joseph’s parish, Anne was a homemaker who provided a loving home for her husband and son and enjoyed entertaining her family and friends. She was a claims adjuster at American Progressive Insurance in Mt. Vernon, NY. After retirement Anne mentored grade school children at PS 30 in Yonkers, volunteered at one of the Yonkers libraries and was active in several other civic groups.

Anne was an inspiration to family, friends and almost everyone she met. She always took a positive exuberant approach to life and stayed physically active going to the gym well into her mid 90’s. She loved new experiences and travelled the world extensively with her husband and after his passing with her son, visiting almost every country in Europe and beyond.

Her family was particularly important to her. In her later years she assumed the role of an active matriarch ensuring that her values and love of life were instilled in each generation. Her favorite saying was “I’ve got the best family in the whole wide world” and, she meant it.

Anne is survived by her loving son Robert Monfrini of Encino, California and by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, great grand nieces and great grand nephews, all who loved and cherished their “Auntie Anne”.

We are especially grateful to Anne’s niece, Joyce Godfrey, and Joyce’s daughter, Andrea Krollman, whose tender love and devotion oversaw her health care in later years. We are also grateful to Anne’s many friends who called or visited her almost daily, and her home health aids whose presence allowed Anne to remain at home until recently in the apartment she loved.

In light of current times, the family will grieve the loss of Anne privately at her burial. A joyous celebration of Anne’s amazing life will take place as soon as it is safely possible.

My dearest little Annie, God has finally called you home. We shared so many happy moments together. I remember fondly the weekly dinners with you and Bill, and the times when we would skip out of work for a lunch of hot fudge sundaes at the Bee Hive…so many memories to cherish. Our deepest sympathies to Bob and family members. Love, all the Grayston’s

Anne had the greatest energy and loving way about her. I remember going to sign up at the gym and there was Anne in the middle of a extremely active exercise class. She may have been the oldest person in the class but she moved along with the best of them. She was a wonderful woman and she will be surely missed. Anne, Rob and the family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
