July 27, 2019 at 9:22 pmI’m so heartbroken. Annie & I had a special bond that I will forever cherish. She never gave up and she fought the ultimate fight which gave me so much strength to continue mine. We were across from each other at Columbia and I remember we texted all day and FaceTimed at night, she made me smile because every time I went to her room she was creating something or had a big plan to do something or make the transplant floor better. It was contagious, it inspired me & it motivated me to be a better person. A happier person. She also sparked my love of make up and we always shopped together from our special websites. The last thing I remember she bought she was colorful Gucci bag which totally resembles her personality- colorful, bright, eye catching, makes you smile just looking at it. I love you annie. Praying for the McMahon family? -Love, Jenna Strickland (Annie’s Cyster)

July 29, 2019 at 11:21 amJohn I was so desperately sad to hear about Annie. I know how devastating and cruel it is but I also know that you have love and strength all around you. The whole family are in our thoughts and prayers. I also thought you might like the following:
In the bottom of the old pond lived some grubs who could not understand why none of their group ever came back after crawling up the stems of the lilies to the top of the water. They promised each other that the next one who was called to make the upward climb would return and tell what happened to him.
Soon one of them felt an urgent impulse to seek the surface; he rested himself on the top of a lily pad and went through a glorious transformation which made him a dragonfly with beautiful wings. In vain, he tried to keep his promise. Flying back and forth over the pond, he peered down at his friends below. Then he realized that even if they could see him, they would not recognize such a radiant creature as one of their number.
The fact that we cannot see our loved ones or communicate with them, after the transformation which we call death, is no proof that they cease to exist.
Lots of love Megan & Themba

I am so sorry to hear of Annie’s passing.
I have followed her progress from afar and she was truly a force and a great spokesperson and celebrity in her own right for Cystic Fibrosis.
I regret we have fallen out of contact and I hope to reconnect next time I am on the east coast.
My thoughts are with you and your family,
Daren
