Eileen Mazzullo, a devoted mother, cherished friend, and beloved teacher passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her husband and three children on September 25, 2025.
Born to John and Alice Bergen on January 13, 1957, Eileen grew up in Yonkers, NY where she contributed more than half a century of service to Yonkers citizens. As a teenager, she was caregiver to homebound elderly patients. Known for her bright personality, boundless compassion, and tireless energy, Eileen was treasured by her patients and trusted by their families.
In the years after Eileen and her husband, Louis, married on December 18, 1982, she dedicated her life to her growing family. Determined to follow in the footsteps of her husband, older sister Katherine, and aunt Helen, Eileen also attended night school at Lehman College to prepare for a teaching career.
As an early childhood teacher in Yonkers schools for over 35 years, Eileen flourished. She had a mesmerizing impact that channeled the talents and energies of her young students to achieve astounding intellectual achievement and social skills. Energized by the experience of being with what she called “vibrant minds in small bodies”, she had tremendous long term impact on her students that resulted in positive performance in elementary and high school. Generations of students credit her with success in their careers and their family life.
Eileen’s passion for teaching was contagious, inspiring all of her children to follow her and Louis into the classroom. Today, her daughter, Katherine, is an early childhood special education teacher. Elizabeth is a school librarian after 15 years as a Social Studies teacher. And Michael was a high school teacher for 5 years before becoming a corporate attorney.
Eileen is survived by her husband Louis, her children Katherine, Elizabeth, and Michael, her son-in-law Jim and daughter-in-law Megan, and her four beloved grandchildren Maryann, Miles, Shannon, and Marlow. She is also survived by four siblings, Jack, Katherine, Liz, and Chris, and is predeceased by her sister Jeanne.
Calling Hours at the Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, Bronxville will be held between the hours of 4 to 8 pm, Friday, September 26. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Church, Bronxville at 9:45 am.

The sun shines a lot here, but it was always sunshine when Eileen was here with a warm smile, an easy way, and gentle spirit. Rest is peace sister. May the arms of our Lord and Savior have reached out to you and welcomed you into His kingdom for your eternal rewards. We will see you when we get there!

September 26, 2025 at 4:38 pmSending love to the Mazzullo family. Mrs Mazzullo was such a wonderful person – and extremely caring and helpful during my sister’s toughest moments with chemo, even during her own battle. May she rest peacefully.

September 28, 2025 at 5:57 pmI Thought I Was Strong, But Then I Met Eileen
I thought I was strong, steadfast and true,
Facing life’s trials, doing what I could do.
But then I met Eileen, a warrior so bold,
Her story of courage, a tale to be told.
I thought I was strong, but in her I see
A strength that goes deeper, unshaken and free.
She teaches that power is not just in might,
But in the soul that keeps fighting,
through the longest of nights.
Eileen, you’ve shown me a strength pure and true,
A testament to what the human spirit can do.
I thought I was strong, but now I’ve seen
The purest form of courage, embodied in Eileen.
I thought I was strong, but her strength redefined
What it means to be brave, to have an ironclad mind.
It’s not in the power to conquer or win,
But in the heart that keeps going, time and again.
She smiles through the struggle, laughs through the tears,
Turning her battles into lessons for years.
Her spirit unyielding, her resolve so grand,
Eileen shows the world what it means to withstand.
