Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, October 28th, 10:00 am at  St. Joseph’s Church, Bronxville 

 

Maria C. Tapia Belsito, age 59, of Bronxville, NY passed away suddenly on Wednesday, October 23, 2013. Beloved wife of Dr. Donald Belsito and adoring mother of daughters Monica, Vanessa, and Christina. Cherished sister of Marcos Tapia, Gustavo Tapia, Fabian Tapia, and Grace Ranken and devoted daughter of the late Alfonso and Lucitania Tapia. She was also dearly loved by her many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.  Professionally, Maria was a successful Certified Fund Raising Executive at various organizations in New York and in Kansas City, including The Allen-Stevenson School, The Pembroke Hill School, American Lung Association, Rose Brooks Center, Mattie Rhodes Center, Futuro Media Group, and The Wartburg Adult Care Community.  A native of Ecuador, Maria was an avid volunteer of her considerable talents and always looked for ways to give back, especially to Latino organizations.  While living in Kansas City, Maria was active with MANA, the Hispanic Chamber’s Latinos of Tomorrow, the League of United Latin American Citizens and its National Educational Services Centers, and El Centro Girl Scout Troop.  In 2010, she was honored by The Women’s Foundation of Greater Kansas City for her outstanding community service.  In New York, she served as a board member of the Mount Vernon Star Scholars, volunteered at El Centro Hispano, and aided the parish van service for the Church of St. Joseph in Bronxville. An active alumnus of Vassar College, she served as the Co-Chair of the Annual Fund. She was a role model and inspiration to all. A mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, October 28 at the Church of St. Joseph.
