Ann Marie Mangan, of Bronxville, New York passed away on Friday, September 20, 2013.  Ann was born in the Bronx, New York on January 17, 1935, the eldest daughter of Leo and Margaret Doherty.  The Dohertys came from County Down, Ireland and raised their family in St. Pius V parish in the Bronx, where Ann attended St. Pius Grammar School and High School.  It was at St. Pius where she met and married John Mangan, her husband of 34 years.  They raised four children in St. Nicholas of Tolentine parish in the Fordham section of the Bronx and later in Bronxville, New York, where she resided for the past 35 years.  Ann was an active member of The Church of St. Joseph in Bronxville, where she volunteered her time and energy and attended daily mass.  She is preceded in death by her husband.  She is survived by her children and their spouses, Margaret Mangan Murtagh and John Murtagh of Bronxville; Maryann Mangan Palermo and Christopher Palermo of Bronxville; Eileen Mangan Van Hoek and Andrew Van Hoek of Bronxville; and James and Kelly Mulvoy Mangan of Harrison, NY.  She was the devoted grandmother to Second Lieutenant John Martin Murtagh, III, Christopher Anthony Palermo, James Patrick Murtagh, Henry Coyne Palermo, Andrew Ryan Van Hoek, Ian James Van Hoek, Aidan Koert Van Hoek, John Peter Palermo, Caroline Anne Palermo, John Patrick Leo Mangan, Colin Patrick Van Hoek, Edward Mulvoy Mangan and Thomas Mark Mangan.  She is preceded in death by her brother, Patrick Doherty of Windham, NY and sister, Bernadette Schwartz of Rainier, OR.  She is survived by her sisters Kathleen Fitzsimons of Huntley, IL, Sr. Mechtilde Doherty, O.P. of the Bronx, NY and Sr. Bernadette Marie Doherty, O.P. of the Bronx, NY.  A wake will be held at Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home in Bronxville on Tuesday evening from 6 to 9 pm; Wednesday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am on Thursday, September 26 at the Church of St. Joseph in Bronxville.  Internment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, NY.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Sisters of St. Dominic in Blauvelt, NY or Team Mango for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Societ(https://fundraising.active.com/fundraiser/TeamMango)
