Joseph E. Kopfensteiner, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 8, 2021. He was 82 years of age.
Joe was born in Bath, PA on September 27, 1938 to Joseph and Emma (Walakovits) Kopfensteiner. He grew up in Mount Vernon, NY and was a graduate of Edison High School. He later moved to Yonkers where he lived for 60 years.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Anna May (Spaziante), two children, Joseph Kopfensteiner (Dorinne) and James Kopfensteiner. Joe had two brothers, his best friend Jimmy, who predeceased him in 2020 and a brother Robert. Also surviving are his three loving grandchildren Pamela Naughter (Patrick), James Kopfensteiner & Nicole Kopfensteiner, who he treasured!
Joe was a lifelong New York Yankee fan and was an accomplished little league manager, coaching his two children to four straight little league titles.
Joe was also a terrific athlete, excelling in both basketball and baseball at Edison High School. His baseball prowess led to a tryout with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1957. He was also an accomplished softball player, playing at a high level well into his 40’s.
He was in the family painting/contracting business for 50 years and retired as co-owner in 2000.
Visitation and Mass services will be private.
