Koby, John A. “Jack” May 13, 1941 - June 2, 2024

John Koby (Jack)
May 13, 1941 – June 2nd, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Jack who lost his battle with cancer.

He was born and raised in The Bronx and was proud of his High Bridge neighborhood and Sacred Heart parish. He cherished his family and life-long friends that he made there. It was here that he met Joyce, his loving wife of 60 years.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce, his 3 children, Christine (John), John (Helen), and Tara (Tom), and his 4 grandchildren: Allegra, Johnny, Cheyenne, and Nikolaj.

The Marine Corps motto is Semper Fidelis which is latin for “Always Faithful.” Jack served in the USMC (1958-1964). Dad practiced this and lived his life with honor, courage, and dedication to his family.

Jack was a great husband, father, and grandfather. We have fond memories of him being involved with us growing up and always willing to help with the St. Brendan’s CYO and Mosholu Little League.

Jack enjoyed his retirement from Metro North and spent his free time fishing, watching the New York Rangers, and in Point Pleasant for the summer with his family.

Dad was always the life of the party and made everybody smile with his sense of humor! We are saddened that he has left us, but take comfort that he is at rest.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in Jack’s memory: St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital: www.stjude.org
