Edward B. Kearney, Jr. passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at his home in Ponte Vedra Florida. He was born to Edward and Florence O’Brien Kearney in NYC on March 14, 1925. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert J. Kearney Sr. and his sister, Sister Florence Edward Kearney, a member of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent DePaul Society.   Mr. Kearney is survived by his five children, Sheila Kearney Cordtz (Jeffrey),Maureen Claire, Crysta Jane, Edward B. Kearney Jr. (Michelle), Michael G. Kearney(Heather), and his wife Marijane Lambert Kearney of Scarsdale, NY. He is also survived by 10 beloved grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Kearney was a devout Catholic and a member of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. He was a graduate of Mount St. Michael Academy of NYC, and the University of Notre Dame. Until his retirement, Ed worked at the family business, E.B. Kearney & Sons, a commercial mechanical contracting firm founded by his father. He served in U.S Army Corps during WWII as a pilot, and continued to enjoy his love of parachute jumping until his late 60’s. He was an avid sailor, and equestrian, and spent many hunting seasons in the Adirondack Mountains. He retired to Ponte Vedra Florida in 1995, where he enjoyed the constant company of family and friends. He lived a long and full life, and will be missed by many. The accomplishments and joyful moments of his 90+ years will be remembered with admiration and humor. Visitation Hours will be at Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, Bronxville, NY, on Friday, November 11, from 4 to 8 PM. Mass of Christian burial will be at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Scarsdale NY, at 10AM, Saturday, November 12. Internment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, NY. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity dear to your heart.
