John Patrick McCann Jr. “Jack”, 71, died Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Schaffer Extended Care Center in New Rochelle, NY.
He is survived by his daughters, Margaret Rutherfurd, Tina McCann Moore, Elizabeth Kelly McCann, Kathleen McCann Dierkes and Barbara Jeanne Hadley; his son in laws Chris Moore, Chris Dierkes, Chris Hadley and six grandchildren. Jack was born in Portchester, NY and raised in New Rochelle, NY, the son of John Patrick McCann Sr. and Christine Russell McCann. Jack had a long career in soft drink sales were central to his love of people, entertainment, travel and food and beverage. He raised his family in South Salem, NY, where he was involved with Lions Club, teaching CCD and catering events. His heart also resided in Portsmouth, Ohio where he spent many summers as a boy on the Ohio River, appreciating farms and the ease of Midwestern living. His summers were spent on Cape Cod with his brothers, sister, nieces and nephews singing songs, watching sunsets and celebrating America. Calling hours at the Fred H. McGrath & Son, Funeral Home, Bronxville, between the hours of 4 to 8 pm Friday. Mass of Christian Burial, Church of the Holy family, New Rochelle, on Saturday Dec. 29 at 9:30 am.
