Robert Francis Irving passed away peacefully at home with his daughters at his side on May 27, 2017 at the age of 92. He spent his life in dedication to his family. He adored his wife of almost 50 years, Noreen Patricia (nee Prendergast) until her death in 2015. He was a loving father and even in his youth, put his family first. He demonstrated quiet strength and resolve with every health issue he encountered – charming every nurse and doctor who cared for him with his humor and smile. Born and raised in Brooklyn, he was sweet and kind with plenty of NY grit. Bob was a sports enthusiast and broke all the rules by loving both the Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Yankees and calling Tom Brady the greatest quarterback ever despite his allegiance to NY sports. He was an avid golfer and bowler in his younger days and enjoyed long walks and time at the gym in his advanced years. He loved history and was an avid reader with a great wit and sense of humor – truly a “man for all seasons. ”His family takes great comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his “one and only Patty.” He is survived by his daughters Elizabeth Irving and Alison Irving, his sister Veronica Ward and many loving nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in law, extended family and friends. Calling Hours at the Fred H. McGrath & Son, Funeral Home, Bronxville, between the hours of 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial, Immaculate Conception Church, Tuckahoe, on Friday, June 2 at 9:30 Am
