Havranek, Nancy D. February 25, 1926 - September 16, 2019

Nancy D. Havranek (nee Healy), a resident of Crestwood for over 60 years, passed away on September 16, 2019.  Beloved wife of the late John A. Havranek. Loving mother of Nancy (James) Barnes, Susan (the late Richard) McFadden, Brian (Virginia), Theodore (Norma), John (Laura), Marie and Dorothy.  Devoted grandmother of Jill and Kate Barnes, Samantha and Andrew McFadden, John and Chris Havranek, Roy, April and Kimberly Havranek and Alexandra Havranek. Great grandmother of Aleksandar, Emily and Leo Babic.

Nancy attended schools in Riverdale, New York and after graduation worked for JP Morgan until she was  married to John on July 25, 1948. She enjoyed many summers on Fire Island with her family making her favorite Manhattan Clam Chowder.

When her children were in school, she returned to the business world working at Equitable Life Assurance company, first in White Plains and then in the Graybar Building in New York City.  After retiring from Equitable, she took classes at Westchester Community College and gained employment at Bank of New York in Harrison where she worked until 2011.

Nancy’s second retirement gave her the opportunity to travel to Ireland to visit family and  to Italy for her granddaughter’s wedding. She enjoyed day trips to Lincoln Center, playing bridge at both the Bronxville Women’s Club and Annunciation and family holidays and celebrations.

Calling hours at the Fred H. McGrath & Son, Funeral Home, Bronxville, 6 to 9 pm, Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 pm, Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial, Annunciation Church, Crestwood, on Friday, September 20 at 10 am.
