Golden, Eileen C. November 7, 1943 - January 23, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved sister Eileen “Penny” Golden on January 23, 2024. She was born in Brooklyn on November 7, 1943 to Eileen and Martin Golden and raised in the Bronx.

Penny was a very proud member of the first graduating class of Mercy University in 1965. It was there that she forged lifelong friendships and fostered a passion of service for others. After graduating, Penny began her teaching career at P.S. 14 in the Throgs Neck section of the Bronx. She taught there for thirty-seven years; known as a wonderful and caring teacher to generations of students.

Penny is survived by her sisters Mary Ellen and Patricia McQueen of Crestwood, New York. She was the adored aunt of Matthew, Robert and Caitlin (Isabel) McQueen.

In her years of retirement, Penny became a familiar figure on Scarsdale Road; always outside raking, sweeping or watering her yard. This led to her meeting and befriending so many members of our community.

She will be greatly missed, yet fondly remembered for her many thoughtful kindnesses.

Visitation will be held at the Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home on Thursday February 1, 2024 from 3 to 7 pm.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Annunciation Church in Crestwood at 11 am on Friday, February 2, 2024.

In Lieu of Flowers, memorial donations may be made to Calvary Hospital and the St. Francis Breadline.

Mary Ellen , Pat & family,

So sorry I can’t drive up from VA to express my condolences to all of you in person. I will always have such fond memories of our many dinners together both in Westchester and when you would come out to Port Washington. Our friendship spans 50+ years. I know Penny is now reunited with her parents and many wonderful friends who have gone before her. Hope to see you, Mary Ellen , when I come up to New York. RIP, dear Penny. You will be missed by all !
