CRESTWOOD – Oliver James Gardner Jr , passed suddenly and unexpectedly on April 14th, 2022. James (also known as Butch, Butchie, OJ, Jimmy) a lifelong resident of Yonkers, was a proud graduate of Roosevelt High School and Mercy College, with a Masters Degree in Psychology. James joined the Westchester County Sheriff ’s Department in 1967 and served proudly until 1982. James continued his career in law enforcement, transferring to the New York State Courts serving as a Supreme Court Officer until his retirement in 1998. James was a smart, loving, kind and funny man who always offered a kind word, a listening ear, funny joke or commentary. James valued family above all else and always made sure that family events were special. James was generous to all, and loved life. Predeceased by his parents Myrtle and Oliver, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. James is survived by his longtime partner, Barbara Santucci, his brother, Gary Gardner, his adoring daughters Katharine and Kristin, their husbands William and Michael. Loving Grandfather to James, Farrah, William and Brooke. Beloved family man and friend. Calling hours at the Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, Bronxville, between the hours of 4 to 8 pm Tuesday. Funeral Service at St. James the Less Church, Scarsdale, on Wednesday April 20, 2022 at 10:30 am.
