Galimi, Anthony & Georgeanna – Fred H. McGrath & Son, Inc.

Georgeanna (76) and Anthony Galimi (80), loving parents of three sons and grandparents of three girls, passed away together after 52 years of marriage, August 21, 2019 and August 12, 2019, respectively.

Georgeanna was born in the Bronx on May 25, 1943 to George and Amelia Delardi. After marrying Anthony Galimi on October 7, 1967, she became a homemaker. Anthony was born July 13, 1939 to Dominick and Edith Galimi, also in the Bronx, NY. He graduated Fordham University in 1961, joined the United States Army, upon returning from service he entered the corporate life as an accountant and earning his MBA from Pace University. In 1979 he followed his entrepreneurship passion by creating Edgewater Exporters, a specialty automotive recycling business that he operated for nearly two decades before retiring.

Georgeanna and Anthony raised three sons—Anthony, Dominick, and Michael; devotedly supporting and following their children’s educational, athletic, and passionate interests. Their later years were spent enjoying and spoiling their granddaughters—Alexa, who was born to son Dominick and Janet, and Maeve and Grace, daughters of Michael and Jeanne.

Despite Georgeanna’s adventurous excitement and Anthony’s more casual approach to traveling, they were an inseparable couple. Their home of nearly 50 years in Crestwood was the epicenter for holiday and birthday parties for family and friends as everyone was always welcomed with a smile, enjoyed Anthony’s classic stories and life experiences, and experienced Georgeanna’s wonderfully cooked meals and baked goods.

Calling hours for Georgeanna and Anthony are being held at The Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, Bronxville, between the hours of 3 pm to 7 pm, Sunday August 25th. Mass of Christian Burial at Annunciation Church, Crestwood, on Monday, August 26, 2019 at 10 am.

The Footprints Prayer – For the Galimi Family –

One night I had a dream…

I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord, and
Across the sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; One belonged to me, and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of my life flashed before us, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that many times along the path of my life, There was only one set of footprints.

I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest
and saddest times in my life
This really bothered me, and I questioned the Lord about it.
“Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,
You would walk with me all the way;
But I have noticed that during the
most troublesome times in my life,
There is only one set of footprints.
I don’t understand why in times when I
needed you the most, you should leave me.

The Lord replied, “My precious, precious
child. I love you, and I would never,
never leave you during your times of
trial and suffering.

When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you.

O Lord, we call upon You in our time of sorrow,
That You give us the strength and will to bear our heavy
burdens, until we can again feel the warmth and love of
Your divine compassion. Be mindful of us and have mercy
on us while we struggle to comprehend life’s hardships.

Keep us ever in Your watch, til we can walk again with
light hearts and renewed spirits.

We are still trying to process the loss of our dear friends. We can’t even imagine how you must be feeling. We are heartbroken. We knew them a relatively short amount of time but grew to have a very close friendship very quickly. We will miss them terribly as we’re sure you will. They were almost always together so it’s befitting that they will remain that way for eternity. RIP together our dear dear friends. Our sincerest condolences to your entire family.

To the Galimi Family, I am so very sorry for the loss of your dear parents. I only really knew all of you when we were kids but I can still remember how wonderful your parents were and how warm and welcoming your mom was when I was there for “play dates”. I was shocked when I read what happened and my heart breaks for all of you. I wanted to send my sincere condolences and let you know that even old friends have you in their prayers at this very difficult time.
