Frederick Ralph DeDona of Crestwood, NY passed away on Monday October 14, 2013 at the age of 73. He was born in the Bronx, NY to Ralph & Elizabeth Dedona. He attended St. Helena’s Grammar & High School. After graduating, he went on to earn a degree in Civil Engineering from New York University where he was awarded the Dean’s Chair for academic excellence. Fred began his engineering career in the family business of Dedona Contracting Corp. He ventured out on his own as a partner in AJI-Dedona. He spent most of his life residing in Crestwood where he was an avid golfer at Leewood Country Club. After retiring, he held residences in Singer Island, FL & Scarsdale, NY. Fred is survived by his wife Barbara, his son Fred Dedona Jr., his daughter Laura Dedona-Hollatz, his son-in-law Stephen Hollatz, Esq. , his grandson Myles Frederick Hollatz, his sister & brother-in-law Carmela and Charles Nixon and his niece Annemarie Presta, her husband Gino Presta and their children, Elizabeth and Anthony Presta. His nephew Charles Nixon as well as many cousins and close friends. The family will be receiving friends at the Fred H McGrath & Son Funeral Home, Bronxville, between the hours of 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Friday. Mass of the Christian Burial Annunciation Church, 465 Westchester Ave Crestwood NY 10707, on Saturday Oct. 19 at10 am. Entombment immediately following at Ferncliff Cemetery, 280 Secor Rd. Hartsdale NY 10530. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Foundation for Prader-Willi Research online at fpwr.org or by mail at 5455 Wilshire Blvd Suite 2020 Los Angeles, CA 90036-4220.
