Sharon Anne Deckelmann, 73, of Yonkers, passed away Saturday February 8, 2014. She was born to the late John and Virginia Grady, Nov. 28, 1940, in Yonkers, NY. Sharon graduated from Commerce High School in 1958 and married William Richard Deckelmann the following year. They were lifelong residents of Yonkers. Sharon worked for IBM for nearly 20 years and was renowned as an effective manager who always cared deeply for her staff. Helping those in need was a passion for Sharon. She was a long-time volunteer at Blythedale Children’s hospital and in earlier years at the Elmsford Animal Shelter. A devout animal lover, Sharon’s home was a haven for the lost and hungry… many of which she met while tirelessly tending to her yard and garden. Her greatest pleasure came from spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her sister Deborah (Joseph) Santillo of Palatine Bridge, NY; her children: William ( Angela) Deckelmann of Swansea, IL; and her daughter Darci (Ed) Chiodo of Westbury, NY. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren William, Christine, Danielle, Eddie, Charissa and Alex, her nephews Joseph and Jason and her nieces Chrisann and Debbie. Sharon is predeceased by her husband Bill and her sister Lynne Drain. Calling hours at the Fred H. McGrath and Son Funeral Home, Bronxville between the hours of 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, Monday. Mass of Christian Burial, Saint Joseph’s Church, Bronxville on Tuesday February 11, at 11 am. Interment to follow at Ferncliff Mausoleum in Hartsdale, NY.
