Edmund R DeBlasio of Mount Vernon New York, loving father and “Papoose” passed away suddenly at his home Friday, February 7th at the age of 81. Edmund was born in the Bronx January 26th,1944 and was a devoted son to Elodia Rairden and Edmund DeBlasio, both deceased.

He served on the board of Sky Help Inc, a non-profit organization that provides multi-faceted trauma intervention and ongoing support services for individuals who experienced severe stress or trauma after 9/11.
Edmund loved his family and friends. He especially loved his two grandchildren Mattea (11) and Phinn (9). He also loved music, especially the blues and rock and roll. He attended many rock concerts that are now described as legendary. He loved going out and enjoying a good meal with friends and telling stories. He was a lifelong Yankees, Rangers, and Giants fan.
Edmund is survived by his older brother William and wife Fran, nieces and nephew Billy, Lisa, and Wendy, his son Shane, daughter-in-law Kara, and his two grandchildren Mattea and Phinn.

February 11, 2025 at 10:34 amI was so lucky to have Ed as my bonus “Unkle”. He always brought the fun, from feet-dancing with us as kids, to bringing the house down with his hilarious speech at my wedding. His warmth, generosity and humor made the world a better place and he will be very missed.

February 13, 2025 at 3:01 pmI had the pleasure of knowing my neighbor Ed for as along as I have lived in the same building. We had many conversations commuting from Fleetwood Train Sta. as we walked up the hill home, within our home area and at Sts Peter & Paul as well. He will be a much missed member of our community. May he sleep in eternal peace. Sincere condolences to his family.

February 13, 2025 at 6:00 pmMy name is Susan Howland & Ed was on the Board of Directors for Sky Help Trauma Recovery Services.
For 20 years the DDC has celebrated ‘Festivus’ weekend on Ling Beach Island, NJ..Ed was the cook & host for many years.& everyone loved his Fri night spaghetti dinners.
20 years ago he teasingly told me he was a priest & I believed him. It took a few years for me to realize he was kidding. Ever since then I’ve always called him ‘Father Edmundo’.
He was a dear friend to so many & a wonderful man.
I will dearly miss him.
