Dorothy “Dolly” Cucinell, 90, died on December 5, 2018 at the Osborn in Rye, NY surrounded by her attentive family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, James Cucinell. She was born in Brewster, NY to Alice (Tilljander) and Raymond Shalvoy. A graduate of New Paltz, Mrs. Cucinell was a former schoolteacher, first in Long Beach, CA and then Larchmont, NY. She received her masters at Lehman-Hunter College. She is survived by her loving children Pamela Cucinell Pardillo (Mario), James Cucinell Jr and Susan Cucinell Sullivan (Kevin); cherished grandchildren Ian Sullivan, Maggie Sullivan and Sofia Pardillo. Dorothy was predeceased by her brothers, Raymond and Richard Shalvoy. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Dolly and James Cucinell were residents of Yonkers, NY where Mrs. Cucinell was active in Girl Scouts and served as Community Chair for the regional Board of Directors. As residents of Bronxville, NY, Mrs. Cucinell assisted as a lector at St. Joseph’s, as well as Hospice and Meals on Wheels. In retirement they relocated to Bonita Springs, FL. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 PM Friday, December 7 at the Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, Bronxville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at Gate of Heaven Cemetery on December 8 at 9:30 AM.
