Margaret (Peggy) Conroy passed away peacefully at St. Patrick’s Home on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born on February 3, 1927 to William F. and Margaret Mitty. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Francis F. Conroy, and her siblings, John Mitty, Mary C. Mitty, Dr. William F. Mitty, and Msgr. Edward John J. Mitty, PA. She was beloved by her son, Frank Conroy, daughter-in-law, Gail, and grandchildren Christine, Kevin and Meghan. Peggy was raised in the Bronx, and attended St. Brendan’s School and Mt. St. Ursula High School. She graduated from The College of Mount St. Vincent with a BA in education, and Master’s Degrees in Education and Administration from NYU.   She remained a loyal alumni and supporter of Mt. St. Ursula, and The College of Mount St. Vincent.  Peg was treasured by her second graders at PS 106 where she taught for nearly four decades. Peg was truly a “Lady of Charity” and served as Board Member and former President of The Ladies of Charity of the Archdiocese of New York. She was an active member of Sts. Peter and Paul after moving there in 1968. She was actively involved in The Bronxville Women’s Club, and St. Joseph’s Arts and Leisure Club. Peg was an avid traveler and facilitated many religious pilgrimages with her brother, Msgr. Mitty.  While always busy, she was never happier than with her three grandchildren who loved her dearly and sharing time with family and friends during summers at Belle Harbor.  Visiting hours will be Thursday from 3-8, and Friday from 4-8 at the Fred McGrath and Son,  Funeral Home in Bronxville, NY. Mass of The Christian Burial will be at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 129 E Birch St, Mt Vernon, NY at 10 am. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Ladies of Charity Layette Program or The Recreation Department of St. Patrick’s Home.
