Ine E. Comvalius, 89-years-old of Eastchester, NY formerly of Eagar, AZ and New Rochelle, NY passed away on August 5, 2013 surrounded by her family. Born on June 7, 1924 in Paramaribo, Suriname, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph & Martha (James) Comvalius. She was a member of St. Simon the Cyrenian Episcopal Church in New Rochelle, NY. Survivors include her loving daughter, Pearl Pengel; her grandson, Osei Essed, and his wife Rachel; her granddaughter, Salihah Denman, and her husband Michael; 3 great-grandchildren Kaila, Isabella and Sparrow; her loving niece Ernestine Nahumury and her husband Hanoch, their children Surya Nahumury and Jamilah Wijnstra and Jamilah’s husband Ferre and Ernestine’s grandchildren Indira and Ingmar. She also leaves behind 8 siblings including Dr. Nadia Comvalius, Claudine Comvalius, Rudi Comvalius, Yvonne Comvalius, Lawrence Comvalius, Joyce Brielle, Bernard Comvalius, and Ellen Comvalius. She has been reunited in heaven with her parents and Brother Theodore. Ine attended Teacher’s College in Paramaribo, Suriname and continued her education in the Teacher’s College in Den Hague, the Netherlands. She then continued her education at Fordham University completing a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling. Ine served in the Women’s Army in Suriname, South America during the WWII. She then taught in the Netherlands. She went on to become a guidance counselor in the Bronx, NY. Ine was an inspiration to all who met her and loved by all who knew her. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, 20 Cedar St, Bronxville, NY 10709 on Monday, August 12, 2013 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Her Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 13, 2013, 10:30 a.m. at St. Simon the Cyrenian, 135 Remington Place, New Rochelle, NY 1081. Burial will follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, 540 N. Broadway, Sleepy Hollow, NY 10591, (914) 631-0081.
